 Thanks Bontebok Guru for all the updates and feedback. While I am sad that the riverview sites will not be re-opened, I totally understand SANParks reasons for doing so.

I support BB's comment in that I too will continue to promote and support Bontebok NP.

Fantastic Park, great staff and only good experiences to report!

The following letter (directly translated) was published in the Afrikaans paper "Die Burger" of Saturday, 27 March 2010:

"Ten out of ten for management and personnel responsible for maintaining the camp site at Bontebokpark near Swellendam.

Our extented family pitched our tents in the park during the past long weekend. The camping area was particularly well taken care of and the ablutions were clean and attractive with more than ample hot water to shower and to bath.

The chalets, which we only admired from outside, appeared very charming. All chalets and about all camping sites were occupied - this being an indication of the park's popularity.

Annemarie Esterhuyse
Stellenbosch"

Congratulations to the management of one of my favourite parks.

I agree with that.

They have the best showers I have ever test driven in a NP. I scalded myself because I was not used to the hot water getting hot immediately and such a strong flow.

BTW Bontebok, what's the latest happening in the park?

It is time for some of our rare plants to flower: Be on the lookout for Aspalanthus Grobleri, A. Smithi, Stoebe Rugulosa, Gladiolus Engysiphon, Metalasia Plicata, Erica Filamentosa among others.

It is also rutting season for the Red Hartebeest - Have you ever seen them head butting each other?

In BNP there is always something to see ...

I think Bontebok is a fantastic park and it is interesting enough to be visited all year round; which we do. Whenever I have a weekend free and a chalet is available we are off to Bontebok. A perfect place to reload your energy leves and enjoy.
July I'll be there again!

Hi Micetta & Jonkers

We had just completed a planned burn in the park (only a small section close to the race course along the road to the restcamp) - It will look fantastic in a few months time with all the new growth! :D I believe it will attract quite a few animals and in September the Birds will come to the party as well.

I have just returned from a visit to Bontebok Park. The new Reception Building and new tarred entrance road have been completed and should be ready to be commissioned soon.

Follow the link below to see photographs taken of the new building and camp sites at Lang Elsieskraal camp site:
